Geeking Out on Self-care

Geeking Out on Self-care
by BlackLion

So far in this New Year, I have been geeking out on self-care and learning and implementing new and inspiring Law of Attraction practices into my life. In fact, I feel better now than I ever have! I am so excited about life, Feline Dreamers, and transforming the world. Now, not everyone may be as geeked out about what is happening in their sphere of self-care, so here are some resources that I have found to be instrumental in my transformation. These are the tools I feel will benefit the most people in the easiest and quickest sort of way.

Slacker manifesting. I am a big fan of letting the Universe take the reins and letting my life unfold as it wants to. The benefits of this style of manifesting are more ease, a lot less stress, and feeling into who, what, where, why and how I want my life to unfold rather than being the dictator and strict taskmaster that many folks employ as their SOP (standard operating procedure). Warning, this is not for everyone! Some folks are hard wired for hard work, nose-to-the-grindstone, get-er-done mentality. Though I do have those moments, they come AFTER I have felt my way into creating what I want and from that INSPIRED place, I create and go into full-on creation mode.

But I cannot start there. If I do, I end up spinning my wheels and burning myself out without anything to show for it. Of course, if I go too far into the slacker part (and forget about the manifesting part) then I do get caught in the potential trap of watching Netflix and chilling all day. :)

You may be wondering how I get out of the “lazy” mode. Well, for me, when I recognize that I am focused more on being rather than doing, I give myself a pat on the back! We are human beings, not human doings. But remembering to focus on what is REALLY valuable and important to me – love, freedom, creativity, sparking up others, spirit – that is when slacker manifesting becomes a HUGE asset for me. Easy-does-it self-care!

Meditation. I have added a regular just-before-getting-out-of-bed meditation practice that has kept me more fully engaged with my Source and attuned to what I want to create in my life. I set my alarm to get up (or whenever I naturally want to rise) and set a 30-minute timer. This not only feels luxurious, it is also sending signals to the Universe that I want to feel more refreshed, aligned and ready to give the best that I have each and every day.

Sure, some days are easier than others, and sometimes I don’t have the time to meditate the full half an hour. So, I just set my alarm for 10-15-20 minutes depending on what I have available. If I have a client or biz call in the morning, I will do a quick chakra shining meditation (filling each chakra with pure positive white light) and then be on my way. I highly recommend taking the time to listen within every day and making this delightful self-care practice an integral part of your life!

Visualization. Another practice I’ve added to my morning and evening bedtimes is visualization. Right now I am combining aligning with more money (who doesn’t want this?) and my rocking physical body. I’ve been so inspired by my new friends at Good Vibes University that I’ve create a visualization that puts me into my best future self right now. I get into this feeling place of how I would feel AS IF it were already true. I call him Sexy Adventure Brent (SAB)!

I find a way to imagine myself into the body of SAB, to really see, hear, and touch being him. I have this vision of me on my yacht swaying in the water. I am smiling and laughing, I feel on top of the world in my tropical paradise with two lovely women who are so excited to be with me, and I with them. We’re going to head out on an adventure and I am feeling fully satisfied and ALIVE! What would you envision for your ROCKIN’ self?

Bullet Journaling. Starcat was so excited at the end of last year about this new practice she wanted to start in January. She told me about a journaling technique that combined to-dos, calendars, inspirations, affirmations, and whatever else was ringing her bell into a bullet journal. The bullet stands for all the little pips in a grid that you can connect and use any way you see fit. One night we were watching some Netflix, then decided we wanted to watch something else, but not really sure what it was – not a movie, not a TV show. She asked, “Do you want to watch a Bullet Journal video with me?” Intrigued, I said yes.

Wow, am I hooked! I used some of my Christmas Amazon gift card and bought a journal (Leuchtturm1917, Purple) for myself. I have since added some of the Big Ideas that keep floating around on random pieces of paper, inspiring thoughts, plus I have several doodling pages that are perfect. I have a monthly page, weekly pages and a quasi-daily log where I add my gratitudes, tasks and whatever. And remember the whole slacker manifesting? Well, I give myself plenty of slack about when/if I do bullet journaling for the day, hence the quasi-daily log. I’ve also added a box in my weekly log that has the day’s events/appointments/tasks but also what I did for self-care like my meditations, visualizations and, yes, when I bullet journal I count it too! Loves it!

Dance. Whenever I hear a kicking beat, my body just wants to move on its own! I am a drummer and musician and dancer, so I always have music going on in one form or another. Sometimes I am rocking in my chair, and other times I am spinning around on the linoleum in my fuzzy socks! Now, I’ve been dancing off and on for as long as I felt comfortable, which I think finally manifested in my 20s by going out to the local club several times a week.

I don’t go out that much any more (much less drinking involved that way), but I do love to boogie down! So I crank up some Michael Franti or Ziggy Marley and spin and jump and stuff. Also, I spin poi, so I have been really enjoying practicing “air poi” as part of my dance practice. Plus, this is exactly what Sexy Adventure Brent would be doing in tropical clubs anyway, so why not signal the Universe that YES, I AM SEXY! Even if dancing is not your style, walking, running, hiking, skiing, swimming, anything that gets your body moving and into the zone will be of full self-care benefit to you.

What are some of your practices that get you all vibed up and aligned with the Universe?
