Why Meditate?
by BlackLion
Just before sitting down to write this article, I turned the kitchen stove timer on for 15 minutes and sat back and relaxed into my meditation practice. I count down from 3 to 1 slowly, each one represents the calming of one of my main aspects of my experience.
At 3, I relax my body, starting from the top of my head, relaxing down to my toes. At 2, I release my thoughts and let my mind chatter calm and go quiet. At 1, I drop my attention down into my heart and open myself to my spiritual connection. In this meditative state, I am present and loved.
You’d be amazed at what you’ll experience. For me, this time, I really heard the songs of the birds, the patter of raindrops on the green leaves, and the scents of the fresh summer air. Occasionally my mind would wander to a Minecraft world I have been building, to what topic I would write about for this article, or simply enjoying slow, deep breaths in the presence of my divinity. Let go into your meditation even more.
When you allow yourself to get deeply connected to your inner guidance, you will find out a great deal about yourself, especially with regular practice. There is no right way to meditate. Yet when you hold the intention to connect your body-mind-spirit system into one harmonious hum, your amazing gifts will shine forth and lift you into new arenas of consciousness, connection, and sacredness.
Perhaps the better question would be: Why aren’t you meditating?
