Picture this scene…
Anna is a 38-year-old mother of two living in the suburbs.
Her life consists of the same routine day in, day out. She goes to work at her ho-hum office job. She picks up the kids and drives them around to soccer practices and dance classes. She tries to come up with a healthy dinner that everyone will eat.
And when she has a rare moment to herself, she spends it wondering what on Earth she’s going to do about the book she’s always wanted to write.
She’s investing all her time and energy in nurturing everyone else, and not giving herself any time to follow her calling.
Can you relate?
Anna has the perfect idea for a book.
In fact, she’s told her friends about it for years – that one day she’s going to write the next Great American Novel. The ideas she has could have filled several volumes by now.
But her friends have stopped asking about it because all Anna seems to do is talk about this novel she wants to write.
And after years of talking, now Anna’s big dream of being a writer is just this thing she used to talk about that never actually came to fruition.
Anna often imagines locking herself away in a cozy cabin in the middle of Colorado overlooking a lake and spending 4 weeks of her life doing nothing but writing. Then she presents her manuscript to a big-city agent and suddenly she’s the next Elizabeth Gilbert!
But Anna’s subconscious is fixated on the one thing that her parents and teachers told her endlessly when she was 15 and her passion for writing was at its peak:
You can’t make money from writing. Look at how many poor writers there are. Do you want to be just another starving artist?
So Anna spends her days putting in her time at the office, picking up the kids, and fussing over dinner. She spends her weekends daydreaming, because she doesn’t quite believe she can ever make it happen.

We trick ourselves into thinking that our excuses about why we can’t move ahead with the thing that gives us meaning are real obstacles. We intuitively know that this yearning is to fulfill our soul’s purpose. We’re good at creating excuses and dressing them up as reasons.
Anna’s excuses are:
I have a husband and a children and a job – I just don’t have time.
I don’t know how to write – I should have gone to school for it. I’m not very good at it.
This just isn’t a priority right now.
When the kids are in college, then I can make it happen.
Can you relate?
We end up putting off our dreams. We make excuses for why we can’t make them happen. Then we get to our 80s, look back at our life and think “Wow, if I could have just changed these little things, I could have made it happen – but underneath it all, I just didn’t have the guts to make it happen.”
If you are someone who is living a life like this, know that you’re not alone!
You’re rethinking the way things “should be.”
Exploring your beliefs to uncover who you truly are is part of the adventure of life. You may doubt whether you can, or even deserve to, live the life of your dreams.
The only thing stopping you is how much you actually believe you can do it.
Once you believe you can do it, you can convince your husband, you can rearrange your kids’ schedules, you can stop feeling guilty, you can make it all happen. You’ll have people rallying around you supporting you to get it done – even the friends who thought you gave up on your dreams. Once you believe, they believe.
Your lack of belief helps them not believe, too.
Once you make a decision, the world conspires to make it happen.
Your soul’s purpose is an essential part of re-creating the world, of bringing a greater consciousness to our global society. To truly transform your life you need to go deeper than just modifying your surface thoughts and feelings. You need to remodel your underlying belief structure, the framework upon which everything in your life is built.
Now is the time to delve deep within and make these profound changes. You can unearth the hidden beliefs that you’ve held for so long.

“I wanted to tell you how awesome this experience was for me. Remember Anna and her book dream?
If you are in Anna’s shoes right now, you have two options.
The first one is to continue doing what you’re doing.
Wake up in the morning, go to work, get your kids from school, make dinner, spend the weekends doing everything for your kids, and watch your life waste away. While your family will flourish, your dreams will slowly dwindle, and you’ll continue to be miserable.
Option two is to take the opportunity to invest in yourself and to really understand what’s happening beneath the surface. When you say you don’t have the time, or the money, or the skills, or the support, what you’re really saying is: I don’t believe I can do it. Get yourself some new core beliefs, ones that uplift and empower you.
